COVID-19 RELIEF PROJECT: HANSCOM PARK SEWING CORPS

Sewers and quilters, we need your help! One of our church members is the Social Services Coordinator for Vetter Health Services. They are in dire need of cloth masks to protect their employees and residents from spreading the COVID-19 virus to one another. They manage 30 senior living facilities in the Midwest, with about 2500 residents and 3000 team members. These masks are not medical grade, but as the CDC recently recommended, they can stop a person who unknowingly has the virus from spreading it to another. We can help stop the spread among our most vulnerable neighbors!

Here’s what we need from you: cloth masks. Lots and lots of cloth masks.

Mask instructions:

  • You can make masks with or without wires (both are needed – make whichever you have the supplies for).
  • Please make masks that are double-layered.
  • Please use 100% cotton fabric.

Resources:

Mail or hand deliver (office open weekdays 8 AM – 5 PM) masks to:

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP AT THIS CRITICAL TIME!

Women in Mission Projects (WIMPS) is a United Methodist Women’s group.  We meet on the third Thursday evening of the month at Church or in a members home at 6:30 PM.  The meetings last about 1 1/2 or 2 hours depending on the agenda.  We sometimes have speakers such as Deb Kenney from Fair Trade and Samantha Mashek on her trip to China. We toured Project Harmony this past year and we have made fleece blankets for the Linnus Project which is part of Project Harmony.  Several of our members have also volunteered at Project Harmony to help organize their clothing and switch to different seasons clothes.  We help set up for the Craft Show/Garage Sale.  We have a summer picnic and a Christmas party.  We make Christmas packages for our shut-ins and various other outreach projects such as collect items for the Clair Summer Academy, the coat drive and stuffed envelopes for Child Saving Institute.  We’re a service group and have lots of fun doing that.  It is good to be able to spend time with other women.
